Took me a second to figure out that the Curved Street hopscotch scene on the poster above never actually took place. Tell you the truth, I was disappointed. Short shorts, hula hoops, cocktails with Toby Kaar and Lemonada in the Button Factory after a hot slog in the sun sounds so cool. FB event here. And what is up with the €2 admission? I shouldn’t question these things.
Update - it’s a real photo, taken on Saturday. Dunno why but that’s my day made :)
Check out Lemonada’s TAF Tunes Mix for an idea how deep his DJ river flows.

Drunken Boat are one of the feelgood bands I love that I put when I long for an album that casts its own spell. There’s a gentle and explorative nature to their music that I really appreciate, a sense of setting off on a little voyage with each song, like the flippant day tripper that I am.

They play the Workman’s tonight with support from You Kiss By The Book.

SARGENT HOUSE: No Spill Blood Debut EP Coming 2012 on Sargent House →

    sargenthouse:

What happens when Lar the guitar player from Adebisi Shank decides he’d really like to try out drumming? Well he gangs up with his two mates Matt Hedigan and Ruadhan O’Meara and out comes No Spill Blood. I saw a video from their second show ever and immediately called him and said, “so…

Lash this into you! What time was it when No Spill Blood took to the stage on Sat? I just remember it was almost 3am when they finished and I was on a musical high of the type that’s made Dublin famous. Not one of the franticdance, heavy sweat highs…just a intense satisfaction that comes with capitulation to good music, high hopes realised seeing a new band live for the first time. Really like what these guys are doing here in this outfit, and knowing their seperate bands (Adebisi Shank/Elk/HUWWTD/Magic Pockets) makes it all the more fascinating to hear the elements (collide) combine.

The gig was made all the better as it came amid the news of their first release coming soon in the form of an EP on Sargent House, Get Ready.

Just started listening to this: who are they and what have they done to Sleep Thieves?! A new EP Islands by the Dublin trio has just gone up on Bandcamp today and the new sounds are nothing too drastically different - but if you know them, you’ll notice. A bit like switching to new washing powder and burying your face in soft warm towels to breathe in a new, fresh scent: Sleep Thieves just took a big leap up and it sounds great.

Irish artists on the bill include Autumn Owls, Daithi, Toby Kaar, Kool Thing, Le Galaxie, Little Green Cars, MMOTHS, Reid, RSAG, Shit Robot, Trinity Orchestra, We Cut Corners, White Collar Boy and Windings but it’s James Vincent McMorrow who, after a long year of touring abroad, is the homeslice billed pride of place for a set shortly before Wilco close the festivities on Monday night.

Watch the tour footage of the Sparrow & The Wolf by James VMcM here.
2 / 3 / 4 June - Bank Holiday Weekend. Tix are €49.50 (one day), €89.50 (two days) or €115 (all weekend).

This is exquisite, have played it several times today. Just can’t get enough of this song and the video is perfect; the mask, the shadows, the male and female figures. The slight twitch of fingers, buckled knees, final sweep of hand against the pillar. I love it.

Worked so well to Burrows this year: hear In Winter on Bandcamp if, like me, you need more.

Sign, for me, of a good song? FWhen I hit space to play an mp3 in an email message, only to forget it’s not iTunes and close the window, in doing so cut off the song, and I give a disappointed ‘AWWW!’
Agitate The Gravel have changed their name to Terror Pop. A better handle if you ask me, and for what it’s worth, they’ll be in high demand for how good that looks on Halloween gig posters.
They launch this new single Wait tonight at Whelans. Short notice I know but that’s why I made this Tumblr in the first place…rapidfireposts. Have a listen and head along!
